Terms of Use

These terms govern your use of the X Sim Lab app and website. By installing or using the app, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the app. The optional recipe-sharing feature carries additional terms that you accept separately, at the moment you choose to share.

An independent project

X Sim Lab is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by FUJIFILM Corporation. “Fujifilm” and camera model names are trademarks of their respective owners and are used only to factually describe compatibility.

Connecting to your camera

X Sim Lab communicates with your camera over USB and Bluetooth using protocols that are not publicly documented by the manufacturer. Reading from the camera is generally considered safe. Operations that write to the camera — such as sending settings or recipes — are performed at your own risk and may, in individual cases, affect your device or its manufacturer warranty. You are responsible for what you choose to write to your camera.

No guarantees

Film simulations, parameters, and presets are reproduced to the best of our knowledge, with no claim of completeness or correctness. A camera body may be listed as supported based on a tested sibling rather than confirmed individually; results may differ from the original and from body to body. The app provides tools to verify a camera on your own hardware — use them, and treat unverified results with care.

Responsible use

You agree to use X Sim Lab lawfully and responsibly. In particular, you agree not to:

• use the app to damage, tamper with, or disable any camera or device, or to circumvent technical protections;
• use the app for any unlawful purpose, or in violation of anyone's rights;
• reverse-engineer, resell, or redistribute the app except as permitted by law; or
• attempt to disrupt, overload, or abuse the app, the sharing service, or other users.

Disclaimer and liability

The app is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any damage, loss of data, or harm to equipment arising from your use of the app — including from writing settings to a camera. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions; in that case, the exclusions apply to the extent permitted.

Recipe sharing (optional)

Sharing is entirely optional. Until you choose to go online and publish, your recipes stay on your device and this section does not apply to you. When you publish a recipe to x-simlab.app, you accept the following, and the app links you here at that point.

You alone are responsible for everything you upload. A “recipe” here means the content you choose to publish: its title, description, the film-simulation settings, and any author handle and bio you set. By publishing, you confirm it does not infringe anyone's copyright, trademark, or other rights, and does not contain unlawful, offensive, abusive, or hateful content.

License you grant. So the feature can work, when you publish a recipe you grant X Sim Lab a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, display, and distribute it through the app and website, and to let other users view, copy, upvote, and apply it. This license exists only to operate the sharing feature.

Public and pseudonymous. Recipes you publish are public — anyone can read them on x-simlab.app and in the app, without an account. There are no accounts: each installation holds a pseudonymous identity that signs your uploads, so we can attribute recipes and, where necessary, block a user who breaks these terms — without us knowing who you are. If you set a handle and bio, they are shown publicly; publishing under a handle links your recipes together but is not anonymous in practice.

No personal data. Do not put real names, email addresses, phone numbers, or any other identifying information into titles, descriptions, handles, or bios. Once published, this content is public.

When sharing, you agree not to publish content that:

• infringes anyone's copyright, trademark, or other rights;
• uses other people's trademarks, brand names, or copyrighted text;
• is unlawful, harmful, harassing, hateful, abusive, or uses profanity;
• contains personal data about yourself or others; or
• is spam, or attempts to manipulate, abuse, or disrupt the service.

Shared recipes are user-generated. We do not review them and do not guarantee that any recipe is correct, supported, or safe for any particular camera body or firmware version. Apply shared recipes at your own discretion.

Reporting and removal

We may remove any recipe, text, handle, or bio that violates these terms, or that we consider infringing, offensive, or abusive — at any time, without warning and without notice — and may block any user who abuses the service. The app provides a Report link on shared recipes. To report content or request removal, use that link or email report@x-simlab.app.

Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. If the changes are material, the app will ask you to review and accept the updated terms before you continue. Changes are posted on this page with an updated revision date.
